To our beautiful cousin Marie,If there is any truth in the saying “Tears are the stairway to Heaven”, your got there in record time on ours alone. You were such a classy lady who was always dressed to perfection whether you were going out for an occasion or going to shop. It didn,t matter. You were so special and loved for so many reasons. You were there to laugh with us when we were happy and cry with us if things were rough. Your love of family and friends never ended, you made everyone feel so special. Rest in peace among your Angels. We will love you and miss you forever.
Grace Marie Simonetti was my fathers sister and my aunt. Although she was always my elder, she was always my friend. Aunt Marie was kind, sweet and considerate always. She was humble and carried herself with dignity. She always remembered what you were doing in your life. How was your game, your concert, work, play, vacation? She genuinely wanted to know. Aunt Marie was a firm believer in Jesus Christ. She prayed for me. She prayed for everyone. She loved saints and knew all about them. I know about them now. She would give you anything she had. She was always prepared for your visit. She listened. I would call her every week to check in. The call gave me peace. She loved her family and cherished the past and her elders. She took care of her mother. She laughed at herself. She made me laugh. No matter how full you were at her table she would keep bringing out more food. She kept a warm home. She was gracious and thankful. Her name suited her. She didn’t know just how special she was. She sent cards. She was my friend and I will miss her so much. I know she is now among the saints that she cherished. I know she will watch over us. Love Steven
I could write a book for the lifetime of memories, but to those of us who were blessed to have Aunt Marie in their lives, simple words hold memories. Family, Cards, Pokeno, Pietzels, Eggplant, Coffee, Butter Rum Lifesavers, QVC, Food and more food.
She loved all of her friends and family and prayed every day for each of us. (Hours) You were always welcome and she was always willing to lend a hand with the little ones. She boasted with pride of our accomplishments and listened and laughed at our stories.
She kept you informed in the preoccupation of your own life of everyone, friends or family, and how they were doing. Job advancements, sporting achievements, dancing recitals, vacations, colleges, weddings, new babies and retirements.
Marie was a very giving person not to just myself but to all. Rarely did you leave her house empty handed. Food, purses, shoes, Peeps (okay that was me). The thing is, she loved to give and wanted you to enjoy and use what she gave.
Aunt Marie was chosen to be my Godmother. I felt so blessed I asked her to be Danielles Godmother as well. At 51, she still in small little ways always made me feel special. I don’t kid myself though. She felt everyone was special and that she was blessed to have us. The fact is, we were blessed to have her!
Grace- I am gonna miss you and our weekly visits/talks. You were such a classy lady! Always looking good with those avon products! I am gonna miss yoru great pizzelles and all the cookies you would have me try. I know your family is going to miss your Monday dinners. And QVC is gonna be looking for you!!! Their stock is surely going to fall. My heart is very heavy since Monday when I got the news of your passing. Love ya Lady!!!!
I’ll never forget sitting in the kitchen with Cousin Marie and Aunt Nancy, waiting to get my chubby little fingers on something good to eat.
Marie always managed to sneak me a few hot pizzelles, and no matter how many I’d already had to eat I always had room for one more. The warmth of that kitchen was only matched by Marie’s smile and laugh, which never seemed to fade through all these years.
It’s only now that I’m beginning to realize how very lucky I was to have grown up around so many people who knew how to laugh so easily.
Grace was my neighbor for nearly 10 years. Our condos were connected, so even if we wanted too we could not ignore each other! Grace and I had lots of great times together. We would laugh, we would swear and we were even mad at each other for almost a year! Grace would send over her delicious meals on many occasions. We spend many a summer night on the deck talking about things. We would call each other, especially during Dancing with the Stars, and complain about the show. I would pick up things at Wegman’s when she was not feeling well, she never wanted to bother me, I would insist! Today, with heavy heart and tearful eyes I write this note. I will miss my neighbor, my friend. When she moved, I missed her. We called each other and we still complained about the same old stuff. Robert’s children were the “light of her life” especially Maya – we had many a laugh over Maya. Grace would tell me each time her brother brought over flowers, it made her happy. I will miss my friend, I already do. I find peace in the fact that her last year in her new home was a happy life. I find peace in knowing that she is home with our Savior. We never really know why God takes our loved ones so suddenly, it is not for us to question it. One thing is for certain, Grace is amongst her family in heaven and yesterday another angel was taken home. I will always hold Grace in my heart and when I look up at a shining star, I will know it is Grace looking down. I will miss you my friend as I always loved you…….

RIP “cousin aunt Marie”. We will miss your laughter, your generosity, your shopping tips, and your weather forecasts. And QVC will miss you, too!
