I was privileged to meet mr Henry Stewart he was my lawyer and best friend could always talk to him if I had a problem me and him were close he will be missed and never forgotten
Richard and I felt privileged to know Henry. He was such a gracious person and was so interested in Canadian politics and the environment, working in committees for water preservation for Lake Ontario. He FaceTimed once to talk about my paintings. We talked about meeting up here to camp in Ontario.
That never happened so a good lesson taught here – never put off things because you cannot guarantee tomorrow…
We will surely miss his posts of Ginger his Beagle and celebrating her birthdays.
I’m so sorry, Mary Lou! I knew Henry well over 50 years and truly enjoyed the times we got together and our fairly regular phone calls. Not quite the daily sharing of meals in our early 20s, but alway appreciated. Prayers are with you and all friends and family of Henry! 🙏
MaryLou and family, I was so sorry to hear of Henry’s passing. We were in the same class at Tamarac School.I had had a talk with you both at our 50 year reunion. My Sympathies for your loss . Jane Young Persons
Mary Lou and Whitney I am so sorry for
your loss. Henry and I were school mates and church mates for many years. During those years we skied, sailed, played tennis and worshiped together. Unfortunately, our lives drifted apart until 16 years ago when I was in need of an attorney. By chance I met Henry pumping gas in Troy. When I found out he had yet to be disbarred Ha-Ha. I hired him on the spot. We resumed our friendship and made it a point to have lunch together when he traveled to Troy. I always looked forward to those meetings and the lively discussion that ensued. I will remember Henry as one of a kind, an intellectual but most importantly a true friend.
Henry Stewart, a loyal friend and member of the Canton-Potsdam Intellectual Community’s founding class, has died. His long-time partner Mary Lou revealed he had been hospitalized since early January and died in his sleep on Sunday.
I met Henry in 1972 when we were freshmen on the same hall of Sykes Residence at St. Lawrence. Among his many interests and talents, he was a carillonneur in SLU’s bell tower, a physically and musically demanding endeavor.
Besides Mary Lou and son Whitney, Henry leaves behind his huge collections of boats and historic travel trailers as well as his beloved beagle Ginger.
Henry,
I will miss our talks, your witty sense of humor, your kind heart, your friendship. May you rest in peace, my beautiful friend.
My deepest sympathy to Henry’s family. I am so very sorry for your loss.
Dear friend you will be missed! Our prayers are with you Mary Lou and Ginger, may your everyday get a little easier. (and everyone who Henry’s touched over the years who’s loss feels heavy)
I only met Henry briefly at Marylou( and my) class reunion a few years ago. Marylou and Henry had a special connection and she always spoke lovingly of him when we got together to chat. As her friend I feel her loss and despair but know the good times that they shared will be treasured. May he rest in peace and the love that he shared with those who knew him. Carol
