Greece: January 10, 2014 at the age of 84. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Joan; parents, Michael Catherine Gaffney; grandson, Matthew Michailidis. James is survived by his children, John (Monica) Gaffney, Teresa (Patrick) Donahue, Michael (Monica) Gaffney, Nancy Gaffney, Margaret Michailidis; grandchildren, Jamie, Katie, Kelly, Jimmy, Aislinn, Siobhan, Jack, Frank, Eric, Melina Arianna; sisters, Mary Feltz, Peggy (Robert) Mulcahy; nieces, nephews; cousin, Frank (Janet) Gaffney; close friend, Marie Kosmicki. James was a graduate of St. John Fisher and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon his death, he bequeathed his body to the U of R Anatomical Gift Program and has always been a proponent of furthering education. A Memorial Mass for James will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday January 25, 2014 at St. Lawrence Church, 1000 N Greece Rd. Rochester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 2652 Ridgeway Ave., Rochester, NY 14626 in memory of James.
