Passed away peacefully on January 31, 2016 at the age of 95. Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Harry S. Phillips M.D., brother, Jack Hart; sister, Lillian Hart. She is survived by her loving family, daughter, Cheryl Furgeson (Larry) of Oregon; daughter, Linda Phillips Teitel of Massachusetts; son, Mark Phillips(Sheryl) of Rochester; granddaughter, Georgina MacAdams (Timothy); great-grandsons, Hudson Logan MacAdams and several beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very special sister, June Corbett of Florida. Jean graduated from West High school attended Rochester Business Institute. She worked for a period of time at the University of Rochester Medical School where she was involved in the Manhattan Project during World War II. It was there she met a handsome young medical student, Harry S. Phillips, who would become her husband for over 50 years. Jean had an adventurous streak and enjoyed traveling with her husband to Europe, Greece, Egypt, Russia, Japan and Thailand, to name a few. She would not hesitate to jump in her son's seaplane for a sightseeing trip over Niagara Falls or the Finger Lakes. Jean was a long time member of the Episcopal Church of St. Luke's St. Simon Cyrene where she served on the Vestry, the Altar Guild the Pastoral Care Committee. She selflessly volunteered her time to help the sick and those in need. She enjoyed membership in many fine organizations including Women of Rotary, The Century Club Literacy Volunteers where she taught an Asian couple how to speak English. She was a beloved member of her neighborhood book club for many years. However, throughout her life, her main focus was always her family.
