  1. Debbie, My sincere condolences to you and your family. I am so glad that I had the privilege of meeting & talking to your dad over the past year at Grande Ville. A truly remarkable man.

  2. Debbie and family I just want to tell you how honored I feel knowing your dad and our many intetesing conversations we had while sitting at Grandview. He was such a kind gentleman. Thankyou for sharing him with us.

  3. Dear Debbie, John, Anthony and family,

We were very sorry to hear your father passed away. We hope he didn’t suffer too much.
It’s already 13 years ago that we met your father in The Netherlands. He made a trip because it was 60 years ago WW2 ended for our part of Holland. He travelled with 20 veterans. We visited him in his hotel. He was surprised that the Dutchmen saw him as a hero. As he explained to us, that was hard to believe because the Americans damaged 60 years ago a lot of bridges, churches, mills and houses to make it possible to defend the Germans.
September 2004 we spend one evening in the hotel and the other day we picked him up and bring him to Eerde, to show him the famous narrow Corridor of Market Garden.

In 2008 my parents and 2 brothers had the opportunity to visit him in his house in the USA. We were very welcome and he showed us his little museum. We were astonished of all the things he had and especially my father enjoyed his stories, unless it were very sad ones. Debbie took care for a delicious lunch. So we all had a marvelous day.

We still think of him as one of our liberators, especially in September. This year already 73 years ago….
We felt ourselves honoured by knewing him.

    Kind regards,
    Marieke Peters – Krol
Also in the name of my parents Martien and Leentje Krol from Eerde,
as well as my brothers Hans and Eric.
