John D. Swan

Rochester, formerly of Jamestown, died Thursday, March 27, 2025, in his home at age 65. He was born July 18, 1959, in Jamestown, son of the late Vernis and Leonore (Thoren) Swan.

He was a 1978 graduate of Cassadaga High School and graduated from SUNY Brockport with a bachelor’s degree.

While living in Rochester, he was a frequenter of his family’s restaurants providing color and character to interactions of all kinds.

John will be remembered for his lighthearted manner, sense of humor and for his way of looking at the world. He had a love of food, especially when he could spice it up a little bit.

He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Cathy Huntington. Surviving are three children, Jonathan (Sarah) Swan, Ashley (Brad Abramson) Swan, Paulina (Ryan Daggs) Swan; grandchildren Grace, John and Will Swan, Smith, Oliver and Nellie Abramson and Harlow Daggs; siblings Dennis (Debbie) Swan and Greg (Cindy) Swan; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Sunday, April 6th from 2-4 pm at The Alexander, 282 Alexander Street, Rochester, NY 14607.

Burial service at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Lakewood, NY will be announced at a later date.
