  1. Willis Major Relation to Deceased: Jefferson High School Coach Mr. Foote was a great coach. I will never forget when he gave me the chance to start varsity football as a tenth grader. Having him as a football and basketball coach bring back some of my fondest memories. My condolences.

  2. Ryan aka “GUS” G. Van Alstyne Relation to Deceased: Student/Athlete Jefferson Class 1986 A man of Standards & Class, a Coach with belief in his players. He gave me a chance to play for him without holding me to my past, when no other Coach would. He helped me be the best student-athlete I could be. It was an honor to have been coached/taught by a man of his caliber. The butterfly emerges from its silken shell- Reborn, it arises, no longer bound to earth. Free at last, the butterfly glides to heights unknown before. So do our loved ones find a beautiful release as, earthbound no more, they leave our sight and joyfully rise to a garden of matchless beauty, a place of light and peace. -Evelyn Phillips

  5. Roy Ferlisi I had the privilege of playing high school basketball for him from 1974 through 1976. Although I won’t go down as a star player that he once coached he made a profound impact on my life as a young man. At a time when not a lot of people believed in me he showed supreme confidence in me as a player and person. In later years I would run into him on the softball diamonds and at Bathtub Billy’s sports bar. He always went out of his way to say hello and ask how everything was. I am very grateful and honored to have known him and am a better person for it. The butterfly emerges from its silken shell- Reborn, it arises, no longer bound to earth. 6. Rodney D Turner Relation to Deceased: He was my Football & Basketball coach Mr. Foote was an awesome coach. I remember how we would talk about the philosophies and mental part of playing a game with smarts and to play within yourself and not try and be something you are not. He was able to help me balance that mind frame within myself and inspire me to work hard to get to the next level. I was able to use that inspiration to play basketball (my worst sport) in college and succeed in college. I still play basketball 3 days a week and still use the same principles that were instilled in me as a young adult. I think because of him I have been able to pass on the gift of knowledge that was given to me, to my own children. Thanks Coach Foote for being an integral part of my maturing as a man and person.

  7. Paul M Perotto Relation to Deceased: Friend Jack was one of the best people you will ever meet. I knew him for 20 years, starting out watching him bowl with my father Paul and cousin Dave at Gates Bowl to eventually bowling on the team with them. We shared several golf outings as well including that nice 30 degree day in May at Caledonia a few years back that I will never forget. We froze our butts off that day, but had a great time as always. As I sit here typing this memory, it reminds me that Jack never complained or criticized, always tried to assist and give advice. Jack, you will never be forgotten.

  8. Maudette Jackson I first met Mr. Foote as a 6th grader when I played softball for a Kodak summer league. Imagine my surprise when I went to Jefferson Jr.-Sr. High School the next year, and he was one of my phys ed teachers. He was my softball coach from ’83-’87. A funny man who always encouraged his athletes to strive for the best. You will be missed.

  9. Marisol Vasquez-Mobley Relation to Deceased: student/athlete Mr. Foote was my coach @ Jefferson High School in the 80’s. He was my basketball and softball coach. He taught me that winning wasn’t everything….as long as you tried your hardest. I reunited w/Mr. Foote 18 years ago when I found out that he was my neighbor in the Greece Community. I would see him @ Bathtub Billy’s, in the neighborhood, bowling tournaments and especially at all the Olympia High School basketball games. Mr. Foote was a great coach, great person, great man and most of all a great friend. He will be greatly missed by all especially at Greece Olympia High School. I will miss you dearly Mr. Foote. 10. Lisa Tirabassi (infantino) Relation to Deceased: student/athlete Coach was the first person who told me that winning wasn’t everything… as long as you learned something in losing. Always try a little harder, play a little smarter, and come off the field or court with a smile and you were always the winner. It took me a while to learn those lessons ( when my kids started playing sports) but i still carry them with me and always will, thak you jack for being wise and caring, and just foolish enough to make us feel that we were making a difference in your world. As we look back over time We find ourselves wondering ….. Did we remember to thank you enough For all you have done for us? For all the times you were by our sides To help and support us ….. To celebrate our successes To understand our problems And accept our defeats? Or for teaching us by your example, The value of hard work, good judgement, Courage and integrity? We wonder if we ever thanked you For the sacrifices you made. To let us have the very best? And for the simple things Like laughter, smiles and times we shared? If we have forgotten to show our Gratitude enough for all the things you did, We’re thanking you now. And we are hoping you knew all along, How much you meant to us.

  11. Lisa c Bacon-Duncan Relation to Deceased: class of ’86 jefferson high school When my parents were getting divorced (my senior year in high school), he was not only my softball coach but also a great friend. He was a person who you could always count on. Jack your a wonderful man who cared deeply for the athletes as well as the adults you came in contact with. I will miss you. I think no matter where you stray, That I shall go with you a way. Though you may wander sweeter lands, You will not forget my hands, Nor yet the way I held my head Nor the tremulous things I said. You will still see me, small and white And smiling, in the secret night, And feel my arms about you when The day comes fluttering back again. I think, no matter where you be, You’ll hold me in your memory And keep my image there without me, By telling later loves about me. Dorothy Parker

Even though my nick name was “Shorty”, he always called me “Half Pint”. I’ll never forget the first day of Spring practice in the Gym and Cynthia Lott hit me in the face with the ball–unintentionally of course but my tooth went through my lip but he kept it together, and couldn’t believe I showed up for practice the next day–a very compassionate man. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. The butterfly emerges from its silken shell- Reborn, it arises, no longer bound to earth.
