  1. Tom Clyde Relation to Deceased: old friend John ran Homecoming for us at Geneseo. He worked really hard, and if you know him, you know he put everything he had into his projects. He was funny too. The theme was the Bicentennial, and it was “Yankee Panky”. I’m sure John cooked that up. He got a crew and created Colonial costumes. Passionate guy.

  2. Roosevelt A Murray Sr Relation to Deceased: former Durand Beach Security John: you will be well missed, even today and shipping at your John Kerr Mart, and visiting with you at the hospital after you fell, it was very good to see and talk to you at home, may god be with you and family Roosevelt Murray Sr I think no matter where you stray, That I shall go with you a way. Though you may wander sweeter lands, You will not forget my hands, Nor yet the way I held my head Nor the tremulous things I said. You will still see me, small and white And smiling, in the secret night, And feel my arms about you when The day comes fluttering back again. I think, no matter where you be, You’ll hold me in your memory And keep my image there without me, By telling later loves about me. Dorothy Parker

  3. Ron Meyers John would do ANYTHING in support of one of his special events. One of the pictures I have on my desk of my daughters when they were very young is with John dressed as the Easter Bunny at an ‘egg hunt’ he organized. A true friend who was always there to lend a hand. You’ll be GREATLY missed, John.

  4. Phyllis Capuano Relation to Deceased: Friend John, can’t believe we met for coffee last Wednesday and emailed on Thursday, with plans for the public market on Saturday. How fast life changes. Every time I have a fresh fig or cactus pear, I will think of all the times that you would get them at the public market for my mom, aunt and myself. Your thoughtfulness and giving demeanor will always be remembered. I would tell my husband how much I enjoyed meeting you for breakfast. I loved the smile on your face when I would give you the potatoes that came with the special. You really enjoyed your meals…lol.. Breakfast at Uncle Danny’s will be different now. I will miss you my dear friend and will think of you always. Phyllis….. I think no matter where you stray, That I shall go with you a way.

  5. Joan Kamienski Relation to Deceased: Faculty @ 46 School John was a lovey, hardworking and caring man. He created a wonderful after school program at School 46, working with the staff and students. With his creative energy and devotion, the children were truly blessed to have him as a mentor. The butterfly emerges from its silken shell- Reborn, it arises, no longer bound to earth. Free at last, the butterfly glides to heights unknown before. So do our loved ones find a beautiful release as, earthbound no more, they leave our sight and joyfully rise to a garden of matchless beauty, a place of light and peace. -Evelyn Phillips

  6. Jeanetta Davis-Jackson Relation to Deceased: Co-worker John, you will be truly missed; your ‘footprints’ will forever be a reminder of your services to the Rochester community, DRYS, and those individuals that you have unknownly touch…R.I.P The butterfly emerges from its silken shell- Reborn, it arises, no longer bound to earth. Free at last, the butterfly glides to heights unknown before. So do our loved ones find a beautiful release as, earthbound no more, they leave our sight and joyfully rise to a garden of matchless beauty, a place of light and peace. -Evelyn Phillips

  7. Gretchen A. Schulz Relation to Deceased: Friend John and I worked together at the City of Rochester for thirteen years. He was a tireless worker. John believed deeply in the good he did could do for others. John could work three days around my one. He recognized others for working hard and never forgot to say thank you for anything you did for him. His spirit was engaging and at times very entertaining. John loved to plan parties at work and that is when his real silliness showed. I will miss him very much. Rest in peace John, you deserve it. Gretch

  8. Garth Freeman Relation to Deceased: Colleague John was one of the first people I met when I moved to Rochester in 2006. He was welcoming, kind, and interested in sharing ideas and thoughts about working in the community. He was dedicated and committed to the youth of Rochester and believed in their positive influence and importance in our society. John will be missed by so many. My condolences to all his family and friends.

  9. Ed Dunscombe Relation to Deceased: Friend Remembering fondly all the laughs and good times from the Geneseo days.

  10. Bob Whiting Relation to Deceased: Friend and Co-Worker Never one to shirk from rolling up his sleeves and getting involved, John was willing to pitch in on any project whether it was handling ticket duties for the Flower City Players, helping to run charity golf tournaments, organizing, purchasing and preparing food, washing dishes, and cleaning up at numerous functions, cooking hot dogs for thousands of kids at the Flower City KId’s annual picnic and volunteering to help cook dinner for other volunteers at the annual Ontario Beach Park Program Committee volunteer recognition events. I remember when we needed volunteers to help direct the public during the remodeling of the Blue Cross Arena, John was the first person to step up. Receiving a parking ticket while he volunteered at the event and getting his windshield broken at another didn’t deter him from stepping up at the next opportunity to volunteer. John was truly unique in his willingness to help wherever he could and he will truly be missed by all who worked and volunteered with him.
