So sad to hear of the passing of a guy we all looked up to growing up on Hilltop Road. I’ll never forget Joey and Patti talking their “secret” (made up) language.
I worked with Joe several years ago at Monroe High School. I was the school nurse. He was a great resource and I remember referring a lot of very troubled young people to him. He was always kind and helpful. Rest In Peace, Joe
Although I ‘ve only known Joe for six months, we clicked as if we had been friends for years. I am heartsick at his sudden death when he had so much to live for with his children and grandchildren. He was indeed the ‘real deal’ in life, a smart, successful professional spanning two careers, a loving Dad and a man with a wise, caring heart. Rest in peace, my dear friend, I will miss you always. My deepest sympathies to the family he loved so very much.
I will miss you. I enjoyed our conversations between appointments, and I especially enjoyed hearing about your children and your adventurous vacations. I pray that your family will be comforted by the love you kept for them and the memories you built together. Rest in peace.
I am so sorry for the loss of this great man. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news. I was currently getting counseling from Joe and also did back in 2009. I had gone back then for marriage counseling but got so much more. He really helped me understand so much more about myself. Due to our similar upbringings and situations, I always felt a special bond with him. So much so that when I was in need for more counseling this past year, this time with “family blending”, he was the first person I thought of. We would share stories of our lives both good and bad, and there was a strong mutual respect about how we were as fathers. I never got to meet his children but he beamed whenever he talked of them. He loved his children dearly and they were always first on his mind from what I saw. I am going to miss him but I know that he will be in God’s loving arms. Gid bless and my prayers go out to the family.
Mr. Alessi was just @ SOTA a few weeks ago supporting us during a colleagues death. This is very sad news to us. We wish to express our condolences to his family.
Joe and I worked at Monroe High School some years ago. He was always a spark of light and energy, a passionate advocate for kids and a quick wit. I spoke with Joe only a few weeks ago at my current school, where he was visiting a mutual friend/colleague. Hard to believe Joe’s work on this Earth has ended, but I know he will continue to look after his many loved ones from Heaven. God Bless Joe and family.
Our hearts are aching so-oh how we will miss you- Go soar among the spirits & angels. You graced our planet with love & joy We are grieving, but our Lord is rejoicing as you come home. Gary/Judi Heim
Erin,
Papa Joe always loved you and still does. He is with you in all you do. Your thoughts, memories, and voices of him will guide and comfort you; often times when you least expect it.
Love you and thinking of you, your family and Brooke.
Joe was very special to us. He was part of our “adoption” story when I first met our children in Vietnam. He was a loving and caring man, great friend and wonderful father. We will miss our late summer visits when he came to Virginia. Our prayers go out to his many family and friends.
