Joe was a WWII Army Veteran and he was retired from Delco Products. NO PRIOR VISITATION. He lived at 84 Fulton Avenue until he married Henrietta. They eventually settled on Belknap Street in the city. Joe was a very kind, generous, giving man. He was always the first one to show up ready to help out. He went daily to the bakery and brought bread to his parents and siblings. Every Easter he bought a corsage for his sisters Louise and Betty. It was his way of making them feel special. On the first birthday of each of his nieces, he sent them a dozen red roses. Those new to his neighborhood thought he worked as a garbage man because he would put out all the trash bins for his elderly neighbors each week. His sister-in-law Helen taught at a daycare on his street and would walk the kids to his house where they sat in his driveway and called "Uncle Joe" until he came out and then he would give them lollipops. Joe would always stop by to share a meal or just chat and often brought some type of surprise: chestnuts collected from the trees near his house, large boxes for kids to play in, sugar substitute by the thousands, and if you ever told him you liked something he was wearing, like a hat, he would insist you take it right then and there! He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved sharing funny stories about the Army, his work at Delco, and family. He was also very much the gentleman and if he ever told a joke that was a little "off color", he would immediately apologize to you. He and Henrietta had a dog named Rascal that was like a child to them. He loved deer hunting with his father and friends. His lifetime career was working at Delco for General Motors, yet he never owned a car until much later in his life. He always walked everywhere. Joe was very smart and was an expert when he watched Jeopardy on tv. He was a meticulous dresser and was always well-groomed and looking handsome! Joe will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
