Joseph G. Chierico was born March 23, 1935. His parents, Anthony & Louise made his and his sister, Jean's home in Brooklyn, NY.
At the delicate age of 3 months old Joe survived Mastoid Ear Surgery. Joe's love of baseball and the NY Yankees began in his grade school years.
Joe attended & graduated from Ridgewood High School with honors in his electrical class. A life changing event took place while attending Bible Camp in Bloomington Indiana. Frances & Joe had met. Frances had no idea who Joe's dad was. She was sitting right beside him, next thing you know she was pointing at Joe saying someday she was going to marry him.
Joe was a very proud American. He served in the Army National Guard from October 5, 1953, to March 1, 1955.
Joe & Frances were married in 1956 on November 3rd. This day was special for the Chierico's. It was also granddaughter, Lulu's & father, Anthony's birthday. The two later in 56 moved to Rochester.
Rochester became their home, and their family grew. Their children, Tony was born in 1958, David in 1961 and finally Lucie in 1962.
Joe rarely rested. He returned to school, received his BA from Oswego State, and then went on to Nazareth College where he received his Master's in Education. This propelled Joe into teaching. His natural mentoring skills make him a perfect fit to be a schoolteacher and he enjoyed this role very much.
Joe's teaching career began in with the City of Rochester School District as an agricultural educator. During this time he worked with children who were severely handicapped. Joe went on to teaching in the Greece Central School District. He taught all aspects of construction at Greece Athena High School.
Joe was very talented. He also was gifted at construction and building things. This gift led him to creating Ridgemont Builders, Inc., Sampson's Homes & Chierico Construction, Inc. He had built many track homes and apartment complexes in the Rochester Community.
As busy as Joe may have been. Nothing was more important to him than being a loving, husband, father & grandfather.
After retirement Joe may not have been "busy" like he used to be. He and Frances moved to the Thousand Islands, Alexandria Bay, NY. They built their dream home overlooking the St. Lawrence River. Joe & Frances enjoyed spending time on Wellesley Island. Part of Joe's new "busy" was he being social. He was named the "mayor" of Wellesley Island State Park.
Joe was hardworking, intelligent, loving, dedicated, social & will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
