I was stunned to read Joe’s obit in the paper recently and wish to extend my deepest sympathies to his family. Being a 10th Warder for many years, I remember his family market where they served the neighborhood with the freshest vegetables in the area. I worked at Palmos Sweet Shoppe (George, the Greek) in the 40’s and 50’s and whenever my Godfather George needed me. Still live in the area and have been here for over 70 years. Can’t remember when Joe decided to open DiJune’s Liquor Store across the street from his parent’s Market, but he was so proud of his store and especially proud of his son who worked with him. Joe always had a smile on his face and was a wonderful asset to the neighborhood.
Kind to everyone. I think the DiJune family name is recognized by all in the area and by many who use to live around here. He is one of the nicest businessmen and brought back many wonderful memories to this 90 year old…His Dad’s Market, my Godfather’s candy store, Jackson’s Jewelry, the Florist next to Jackson’s, Bauman’s Meat Market, Flanigan’s furniture, the bank, Schultz’, Johnson’s bakery, Sellitto’s restaurant, Passero’s Shoe repair, etc., etc. Another Icon has left us. Once again, my deepest sympathies to his wonderful family.
Joe, you were an idol. You were modest and never made anyone feel inferior to you, a true admiration. Your intellect was superb and you expressed it so eloquently though most times with jest, a true genius no question. Thank you for your wisdom and trust, your words will always resonate in my mind and heart, through all aspects in life. And I thank you for always being inclusive. Our conversations I will forever keep. Thank you.
Our hearts go out to the entire DiJune family during this loss. Joe was an extraordinary man. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He would do anything for his family and was so proud of all of them. He was a hard working man and a great member of the community. He will be deeply missed.
Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers,
Kathy and Tom Thomson
Gracie and Family. We are deeply saddened by Joe’s sudden passing. He will always be in our memories of wonderful times at Riverwood. You both were such a perfect couple and always so gracious to us. Stay in touch.

Joe you were our rock. I love you as only a sister could. I guess Dad and Mom missed you, and all our aunts and uncles, Grandparents. You were there Prince as it should be,being the 1st born in our family. I’ll forever miss you, till I see you again. Love Carolyn
