June 21, 2022. Joe is predeceased by his son, Joseph R. Mattia, II. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Mattia; children, David (Tina) Mattia, Mark (Traci) Mattia, Nicole Mattia; grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Harrison, Gwenneth, Dakota, Sierra, Austin & Savannah Mattia; sister, Marian Wallace; sister-in-law, Joan Mattia; several nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends. Joe's funeral mass will be celebrated, Thursday, June 30th, 11AM at Parish of the Holy Family, 4100 Lyell Rd. (West of Elmgrove Rd.). Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Humane Society @ Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450 or to Veteran's Outreach Center, 459 South Ave., Rochester, NY 14620 in Joe's memory. Joe lived in Rochester most of his life. He told stories of growing up here, drag racing, running around with his friends and cousins, and was proud of his service to the Air Force. As he grew older, married and had children, he was still young at heart. His hobbies changed somewhat over the years from things like hunting or golfing to things that took a little less energy, like poker nights, fishing, and cooking. He also couldn't get enough of music festivals, though we're pretty sure the food at the events was part of the draw. The man loved his food and his sweets, a good menu was sure to get him in attendance to pretty much anything. Fun, food, and coffee, with family and friends (they all better bring their dogs too), and he was happy. So were we, he will be missed!
