  1. From Kathy’s Eastman School of Music family, I write with condolences on your loss. The Dean shared the news of Kathy’s passing on Friday in comments sent to the Eastman community, and I’m forwarding here what I offered in that tribute message. Her contributions in support of our Residential Life program and her interest in the lives of countless young musicians will be remembered always:

Kathy was lovingly known as ‘Queen of the Dorm” and that title was actually embroidered on her staff polo shirt for many years. She took great pride in creating a welcoming community within the Student Living Center, and she knew the operations of the building in great detail. Kathy cared about the students as if they were her own, and she was always available to listen when someone needed an extra bit of personal attention. She was a colleague to count on when there was work to be done, whether replacing your ID card, advocating for improved dining options, or decorating the building for a holiday celebration. Kathy did it all, with a bit of sarcasm, a ready laugh, and a totally giving spirit.”

We have many happy memories of Kathy’s work with us, and we pray that your memories will continue to bring you comfort in the days ahead.

Donna Brink Fox, Senior Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs
    Eastman School of Music

  2. Dear Mike, Alexis, Nicholas and family,

Kathy and I lost touch over the years, but I always considered her as a dear friend after working so closely with her at ESM. Words cannot express the shock and grief I felt seeing her obituary, and I can only imagine how painful her passing is for you. I’ve missed her so much, and I have so many wonderful memories… our talks, walks, lunches, a fun trip to Toronto to see a Yankee game, and lots of laughs. We always loved talking about our kids, too. She just loved you both so much, and I know that she will be your angel always watching over you. I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

    Sandy Posato

  3. To my 2nd family, the Graus’s, to Alexis and Nicholas … Kath meant more to me than mere words can express, so my condolences are equal to that.

I have so many memories to share, and I will, I just can’t chose right now.

I will say though, that I always loved the the unique color of her eyes .. there was a light in them that never went out, especially when talking about her kids.
And those bright eyes are the first things I see in my my mind when I think of Kathy <3

  4. I’m so sorry for the loss of Kathy. She was a caring, loving, and very thoughtful person. I will miss her laugh. I can hear it now. I love you Kathy. Rest in peace. Your cousin, Marc.
