We know that Leone will be missed. Prayers for the whole family to know “the peace that passes all understanding to guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:7
We only met Leone one time, when his granddaughter Shannon married our son, Jeffrey Bryant. He was charming! His love for Shannon was evident. I remember the smile on both their faces during the grandfather-granddaughter dance. Leone gave Jeff a mandate. Instead of saying “take care of my granddaughter,” he said “You WILL take care of my granddaughter!” Jeff took his advice very seriously. We know he will be greatly missed by the family…a wonderful family! Please know that our prayers for your strength and comfort will be undergirded by the Heavenly Father who loves you all so much! By the way, the obituary was beautifully written and captured Leone’s essence. God bless, Suzanne and Jon Bryant
Me and my father are very sorry for your loss. We would like to express our deepest sympathies. We will never forget your kindness. Kohe, Maki & Mao Koakutsu
The family always played cards on Christmas Eve. One year, when we all traveled to Aunt Lee’s house in Ohio, the games began. During one hand, Grandpa picked up his cards and couldn’t hide his excitement with a poker face. He began breathing heavily with a “ho ho ho!” and flapped his elbows like a bird. He threw on his glasses and crossed his arms. Needless to say, we all folded…
The first time I brought my boyfriend (now husband) home to Rochester to meet the family, Grandpa heard that he was quite handy. So, within a few minutes of meeting everyone, Grandpa put him and my brother to work by pulling up carpet in the hallway. Nothing like meeting your potential in-laws all sweaty from housework!
My sweetest memory happened many years ago on Mother’s Day. My mom and I went to Sunday mass with Grandma and Grandpa to celebrate the holiday. Before mass was completely over, Grandpa rushed out of his seat to the back of Church. This didn’t seem particularly abnormal – I assumed he was beating the rush of people to their cars. However, he was beating the rush of people to buy three carnations. As he handed a flower to each of us, he said: “One for grandma, one for being a mom, and one for you because you will be a mom someday.” I can’t even put into words how special he made me feel that day; and I am lucky to say years later, he was able to meet my two sons.
I remember my first date with Mike was dinner at grampa’s place! He told me how great his sauce was! No pressure at all 🙂 Fortunately I wasn’t vegan then, Phew!
Another great memory I hold is when we brought Hayden to Rochester for the first time. Grampa was so happy to have another girl baby 🙂 He walked up and down his street, taking her to friends houses, bouncing while walking. I loved that she had a great grampa to do that after my grampa had passed. Made me so happy for her and him!
I remember over cooked pork chops, Friday Fish Frys, Sat cold cuts and Sunday sauce. I remember comforting sounds of cuckoo clocks and football, golf or car racing on tv. I remember fun times in the Costa pool or trip they took us on to the ocean. I remember trips he’d take me to get me caught up in reading. One of my most special times was when I got a horrible perm, gramps was the one that said and did all the right things. He was my comfort growing up. Proverbs 20: The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.
