March 3, 2019. Melissa is survived by her daughter, Stella DePalmo; mother Michele DePalmo; sister, Tracy (Jeff) Pletcher; uncle Anthony Verna; Aunt Maria Verna; cousin Anthony B. Verna; dear friends, Chrysta (Brian) Gilbert, Chrisanna Gilbert, Brianna Gilbert, Pat John Crego. Melissa's life story will be shared during her visitation, Sunday, March 10th, 1-5 PM at the Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 Long Pond Rd.). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 11th, 10 AM at Holy Apostles Church, 7 Austin St., immediately followed by her entombment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Cancer Couch Foundation, PO Box 1145, Southport, CT 06890 in her memory. Melissa was born in Akron, Ohio, March 26, 1982 to her parents Frank Michele DePalmo. She was social, enjoyed her friends but always made it a habit to sleep at home while growing up. She enjoyed going out to eat with her friends. She was a graduate of Spencerport High School in 2001. Her career as a hairdresser spanned more than 20 years at Kick's Salon. Melissa loved spending time with her family. She especially looked forward to the annual family trips to Darien Lake and celebrating family birthdays. It was also quite common for her to enjoy a sunny day with friends taking in a Red WIngs Ball game. Melissa's mom Michele, described her as being an old soul. Melissa enjoyed old movies, old music and actors of yesterday. Some of her favoirtes were Breakfast at Tiffany's, Singing inthe Rain, My Fair Lady, Carey Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Nat King Cole, Monkey's, 60's 70's music. One of her favorite sayings when asked how she was, "I'm living the dream" her smile and ability to always be happy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
