Survived by his wife and best friend of 26 years, Sandy Webber Heizyk; siblings, Pat Singer, Greg (Cheryl) Heizyk, Dennis (Eileen) Heizyk, Tom (Helen) Heizyk, Jimmy (Robin) Heizyk, Marie (Rick) Brown; father-in-law, Al Webber; brothers-in-law sisters-in-law, Al (Sharon) Webber Jr, Pat (Eileen) Webber, Kevin (Trang) Webber, Darlene Webber; loyal pups, Max Georgie; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends. Michael was resilient through many of his medical challenges. He did so with his usual wit, patience and acceptance before he finally succumbed to ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease Donations In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Michael's memory to the ALS Association, Development Dept, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301, or Holy Name of Jesus Church, 15 St Martins Way, Rochester, NY 14616. Services Visitation will be Thursday from 12-2 PM and 5-7 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 Long Pond Rd). Michael's funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church. Private interment in Falls Cemetery. Additional Information Michael was born on October 5, 1950 to Walter Veronica Heizyk in Rochester, NY. He was raised and resided on Steko Street. He attended Sacred Heart grade school and was a 1968 graduate of Aquinas. He went on to St. John Fisher College where he double majored in English and Chemistry. After graduation, he was employed at Eastman Kodak Company as an Instructor in Photographic Science. Michael met Sandy at Kodak and she was one of his students. They were married at St. Ambrose Church on October 3, 1986. He was devoted to his wife. He enjoyed traveling and was fortunate enough to visit many places such as Central Europe, Poland, Aruba, St. Marten's, England, France, Italy, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Key West, Grand Ole Opry, Graceland in Nashville, and Cancun, Mexico. His favorite hobbies included doing crossword puzzles, yard work, puttering around the house, camping in his pop-up camper, listening to all types of music, and riding on his John Deere mower while wearing a hat and smoking a cigar! Some of his famous quotes were "Rule 62, Don't take yourself so damn seriously", "How do you eat an elephant?...one bite at a time", and "Right foot, left foot". Michael's family and friends would best describe him as having a sense of humor, being a people person, someone who enjoyed helping others, non-judgemental, intelligent, laid back, kindhearted, patient, quick-witted, and someone who always saw good in everything. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
