Michele and I worked together about 4 years ago on a trip for our Magnet work She was a true professional and supportive co worker She inspired me to return to school I am very sorry for your loss
May michele rest in peace. Michele was a great mentor. i worked as a patient care tech & will always remeber her and all the guidence she gave me. She encouraged me to become a nurse, i hope that i can achieve and become as great a nurse as Michele as she was. She will be truly missed , always in my heart.
The profession of nursing and upstate New York has lost an amazing woman. I didn’t work closely with Michelle but I remember a particular encounter with her like it was yesterday. I was new to the CTICU at Rochester General Hospital and Michelle was the director of nursing who oversaw that unit along with many others. I was in the middle of giving a patient a bed bath and needed help rolling her on her side so I could wash her back and change her sheets. I peeked out of the patient room to see if anyone was around to help and all I saw was Michelle so I went back into the room. Next thing I know she pokes her head in and asks me if she can help me. I tell her no and that I just wanted to roll my patient. As she is grabbing a yellow isolation gown that she is putting on over her red skirt suit and red pumps she says to me, “I may be a director but I will always be a nurse.” I never forgot her words and they resonate with me almost on a daily basis. Currently I work in nursing leadership and Michelle is one of two people I strive to emulate and be like every day. My sincerest condolences to ALL of Michelle’s family and closest friends. She was an amazing woman and you are lucky to be related to her. Sincerely, Kathleen McCollum, RN PhD(c)
Michele was a valued member of our organization who contributed greatly to our activities to advance nursing. She was a shining star and will be missed by her colleagues. A donation will be sent to her memorial fund at U of R.
I worked with Michele years ago at GMH in Batavia. So sorry to learn of her passing. She was brilliant and so willing to share her knowledge. The world will miss her.
I am so heartbroken to hear of Michele passing. Michele was my boss for a handful of years and taught me so much. She was a mentor and I carry her influence to every person I care for each day. Rest in peace dear friend, and may God wrap His arms around your loving family to help them through their grief. Thanks, Michele, knowing and working with you definitely changed my life for the better!
Micheles daughter Shannon and I have been friends for a long time. I didnt finally meet Michele until about 7 years ago. I quickly found out where Shannon got her charisma, thoughtfulness, sincerity and conviction from and believe me there is plenty of conviction there. Michele will be missed greatly. She will live on in many peoples hearts that had the pleasure to know her.
My deepest condolences to all the family. I worked with Michele at RGH for many years. She was a wonderful lady and I am proud to call her my friend. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. Kate
Michele was my mentor when I started working at RGH. She fast became my role model and friend. Our paths crossed several times over the years but we always considered each other “friend.” You were an inspiration to all. I will miss you but I have fond memories. God be with your family, of whom you always were so proud.
Michele left a lasting impression on me years ago as a nursing student. Her compassion and professionalism will be her legacy. Sincere condolences to family and loved ones.
Many years have passed since I met Michele at the USAR Center. Over the years we grew to know each other better as nurses, mothers and members of professional organizations. Last year Michele shared her joy with me over the birth of Ryker, her pride in both Shannon and Marc, and delight with her job at the U of R. Obviously, there is a grand plan for each of us, and I think the plan for Michele was to leave this world way too soon so that she could meet and greet the Veterans whom she cared for on Honor Flight. Thanks for all you did, Michele, in such a short time.
I was saddened to learn of Michele’s passing. I worked in purchasing at Genesee Memorial until 1987 and knew her only through work. She impressed me as being a very intelligent and caring person. And I always wished that I could be as pretty as she was. When I think of her, I remember that 20-something nurse who needed me to order an item for her. Many years have passed, but the people I worked with at the hospital are not forgotten.

Michele made my trip to Washington the fondest memory I have had in many years. May God bless her family and close friends.
