Greece: August 18, 2013. Predeceased by his wife, Sophie; parents, William Libby; brother, Earl; sister-in-law, Dorothy O'Neal. Norman is survived by his loving son, Norman Jr. (Suzanne); grandchildren, Aaron (Jennifer), Brett (Robin), James Jonathan O'Neal; great-grandchildren, Jaylynn, Alaina, Cody O'Neal; brother, William "Red" (Connie) O'Neal; many nieces, nephews friends. Norman was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy as a gunner's mate in the Philippines. A very special thank you to the staff of Latta Road Nursing Home Bldg A for the wonderful care that he received.
Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 Long Pond Rd). Norman's funeral mass will be 9:30 AM on Thursday at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mt. Read Blvd. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Norman was born on June 19, 1925 to William O'Neal and Libbie Bond in Great valley, New York and he was one of three kids. They all moved to Belfast, then to Rochester on Post Ave. During Norman's teenage years, he was a golf caddie, and entered the service at 18 years old. Norman and Sophie meet a at a movie theatre in Scranton, Pennsylvania and were married at the age of 19. Norman was very close to Sophie's family in Scranton, PA.
After returning from the service to Scranton , PA Norman joined the workforce. He worked for Taylor Instrument and East Kodak as a Shipping Clerk .Norman enjoyed a good drink and farm work of all kinds, watching t.v.. and shopping.
Friends and family would best describe Norman being social, good sense of humor. He took great interest in others lives. Norman had a great memory, hardworking. He enjoyed caring for animals, going to fairs, and always helped others. Norman was very active and loved the outdoors. The most important thing in Norman's life was his grandkids.
