  1. Tom Sullivan I never knew Pete, never met him, but I knew his name and how it was synonymous with running in Rochester. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand. An Old Irish Blessing

  2. Tom Renner Relation to Deceased: friend I knew Pete through working out at my club Nautilus of Pittsford. We both shared a passion for track and became friends all those years ago. One of the great runners to come out of Rochester and yet he was easy going and could listen to anyone talking about running never letting on his knowledge and expertise and accomplishments. Very humble and easy going. Track community will miss him! I am very sorry for your loss. The butterfly emerges from its silken shell- Reborn, it arises, no longer bound to earth. Free at last, the butterfly glides to heights unknown before. So do our loved ones find a beautiful release as, earthbound no more, they leave our sight and joyfully rise to a garden of matchless beauty, a place of light and peace. -Evelyn Phillips

  3. Tom Bayer Relation to Deceased: Fellow Knight (Class of ’81) I want to extend my heartfelt sympathy to Pete’s entire family. I was a year behind Pete at McQuaid but he never made me feel like an underclassman. He was kind and always quick with a smile or some funny quip. As truly “a man for others” he embodied much of what McQuaid tries to instill in us all. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand. An Old Irish Blessing

  7. Mike Mulqueen Relation to Deceased: former coach, friend Pete, you will be missed by so many people. I coached Pete at Rutgers and shared an apartment with him after he graduated. I remember our long runs together and his passion for watching hockey games at night back in the apt. He was one of the first people I told when I got engaged, since we were sharing an apartment together, and my wife and I are married almost 23 years now. Pete was a great friend to all of us at Rutgers. God bless you, Pete. Mike Mulqueen The butterfly emerges from its silken shell- Reborn, it arises, no longer bound to earth. 8. Kevin Peartree Relation to Deceased: Classmate I was saddened to learn of Pete’s passing. As a classmate of his at McQuaid, I always admired the determination and commitment of the runners on the cross-country and track teams, not to mention the joy and friendship they found in running. Though I had not seen Pete in many years, I know from all that has been said of him in recent days that he demonstrated and enjoyed those same qualities in how he lived. My deepest sympathies to his wife, his children and his entire family. The butterfly emerges from its silken shell- Reborn, it arises, no longer bound to earth. He went on to Rutgers, but I would see him at GRTC meets and road races when he was home. We remained good friends through the years. I’ll miss his humor and the sense of perspective he had on life. Much Love, Diana and Bill McLaughlin Miss Me Miss me, but let me go When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free Miss me a little – but not too long And not with your head bowed low Remember the love that we once shared Miss me – but let me go For this is a journey that we must all take And each must go alone It’s all a part of the Master’s plan A step on the road to home When you are lonely, and sick of heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me – but let me go Author Unknown
