Paul Cataldo Relation to Deceased: Family Friend I want to send my condolences to Ray’s family. I just saw Ray last week and as usual he made me laugh and we just caught up on things since I had not seen him for awhile. He was a true family man devoted to his family. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone. We had been talking about Florence his wife who passed away earlier and he was saying what a good woman she was and how she would put up with him. He loved her dearly. He would never let anyone know other than people close to him that he was a prisoner of war. He would say if he was in a bar and people found that out, they would all send free drinks his way, and then what was he going to do? How was he going to drive home? Needless to say he had a wonderful sense of humor! He loved life and was very proud of Fio Rito a freak horse that turned out to be a star racehorse and who won the Whitney in 1980.. Ray would never brag and was the most down to earth person in the world. We will all miss you Ray. The butterfly emerges from its silken shell- Reborn, it arises, no longer bound to earth. Free at last, the butterfly glides to heights unknown before. So do our loved ones find a beautiful release as, earthbound no more, they leave our sight and joyfully rise to a garden of matchless beauty, a place of light and peace. -Evelyn Phillips

Lilla Frank Relation to Deceased: Family friend Ray, Donna, Michael, Maria, From our family to yours, our thoughts and prays are with you. Your father was always there for us as if we were his own. Though the kids are grown and we have moved away so many happy memories have stayed with us all. God Bless Lilla, Janet and Robbie The celebration of life, shared in the beginning, and again, in the end. Yet we forget to celebrate it, in every moment we live. Time, days, years, go on, but are we alive? Alive and do not know it, sleeping in the world and dead to the life we are to live. To celebrate all life, the sparrow who sang in the morning, and died in the night, why do we not celebrate its life? To know thyself is to know you are alive – to give, to love, to seek truth, beauty, and suffer pain. In life as it is meant to be, pain is forgotten, and strength is all that’s left to be gained in the moment by moment celebration of life. By Deborah Peabody

Janet Frank Relation to Deceased: Family friend I was very young, but I remeber growing up with Uncle Ray, and Uncle JR at North Park. Uncle Ray even gave me my first job there. As a small child no week was complete without a trip with dad for his league and a stop to the snack bar for a hard roll. If I was lucky I could get to the office to get some quaters for a whatchamacallit from the snack machine. I have thought of the family so many times, since all of my childhood contained them in some way. My thoughts are will you all, he will be so dearly missed.

David A Arieno Relation to Deceased: Son’s best friend Ray– I am your “brother from another mother”. We share a bond that’s lasted over 46 years. Your dad was , no.. IS awesome, and a man’s man! He liked to bust my chops, but I always new it was in jest. He always had a kind word and was very supportive of my military career. (which he enjoyed ribbing you about—lol) As much time as… I spent at your house when we were young, I came to think of him as a second dad. For sure he improved my bowling skills with that “Dollar on the arrow” trick. I never did GET one of those dollars! LOL For certain, “Chef No-Tell” is cooking up cardunes and New year’s Calamari for the big guy upstairs now now. I say he’s not truly gone, just moved a little higher up the ladder.
