  4. Living next door to Dick and Elaine Simonetti and family was formative to my future trajectories in life. I learned to swear from “the Simonetti boys” and even wrote them down on the sidewalk in front on our houses to my parents dismay! Thank you Dick for teaching me proper English expressions. I use them to this day. Somewhere in my parent’s photo archives there’s one of my father Ray and Dick dressed as their wives for Halloween, complete with wigs. They were hilarious together. The real blessing of living next door was that their daughter Sheryl became my best friend through my youth and into my early twenties. Sheryl had two brothers and I three, so having a “sister” to play with was wonderful. I miss those days and cherish the creative energy and sense of humor that our families shared.

To live in hearts that loved is not to die.
