Rita was born in her beloved Casalbordino, Italy, during World War II and left for America on the Andrea Doria in 1955 to begin her new life in Rochester, N.Y. Rita and I met in 1962 while working at General Dynamics. In January 1964, I was sent to Panama with the U.S. Army and in September of that year I proposed marriage by phone to Rita. She arranged all the wedding details while in Rochester. From there Rita and I started a wonderful 48 years together with the first 3 months living together in Colon, Panama. When I was then sent to Ecuador, it was a lonely 6 months as Rita had to return to Rochester.
When discharge came in July, our real life together began, first in Niagara Falls, where Yvonne was born, then back to Rochester where we welcomed Carla and Richard. During our 48 years, Rita developed a huge knowledge and interest in collectibles and antiques that lasted the rest of her life. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life and made her 4 year battle with cancer bearable. She is deeply loved and her exceptional spirit will be extremely missed by her family.
