Passed away peacefully May 25, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 95. Bob was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Marian, and son-in-law, Raymond Schaller. Survived by children, James (Judy) Wallace, Jeanne Schaller, Linda (Bob) Vanelli, Kathy (John) Cocilova; 11 Grandchildren; Michael Wallace, Brian (Marybeth) Wallace, Krista Schaller, Greg (Janet) Schaller, Katie (Andre) Valente, Mark Schaller, Jared Vanelli, Rachel Vanelli, John, Tom and Ricky Cocilova; 8 great-grandchildren; Christopher & Elinor Wallace, Giuliana and Raymond (RJ) Schaller, Isabella, Nicholas and Tessa Valente, Rylee Harrison; Brother-in-law, Clarence Dangler, Sister-in-law, Ellie Shannon, many nieces, nephews, family and friends including his special friend Joan Kuder and family.
Bob was born in Rochester on November 27, 1920 to Lloyd and Loretta (Zapf) Wallace. He graduated from Aquinas in 1938. He was a World War II 8th Air Force veteran who flew 30 missions over Europe as a bombardier in a B17. Bob earned the Distinguished Flying Cross on two occasions. In 1950, he graduated from the University of Rochester. Bob had a 43-year career at Kodak, primarily as an employment counselor. In 1982, he began his 34 years of active retirement. He took great pleasure in supporting the ambitions and projects of his children and grandchildren. Bob lived his 95 years to the fullest.
Bob's family will receive their guests Friday, 4-8 PM at the Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 & Long Pond Rd.) His funeral mass will be celebrated 10 AM, Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 W. Ridge Rd. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Honor Flight, PO Box 23582, Rochester, NY 14692 or a charity of your choice in Bob's memory.
