Santo Farina was born in 1915 at 135 Magne Street (currently Broad St.) in Rochester, NY. He was the son of Sicilian immigrants and was always very proud of the work he did in his life - as a child he drove horses for his father's business and later when cars and trucks replaced horses, he got a job with the city of Rochester driving a truck. In addition, he had various other part time jobs and later in his life he started to work at Eastman Kodak Company where he was employed for 15 years, retiring in 1977. For 22 years he was the 10th Ward Republican Committeeman and in 1952 the late Albert W. Skinner appointed him Special Deputy Sheriff. Santo loved to roller skate and even worked for a time in Eddie's Roller Palace on Chestnut St. His other favorite pastimes were playing cards with family and friends, woodworking and traveling. He was very much a community and family man. In his final years he was active on the Lyell Avenue Revitalization Committee (L.A.R.C.).
