  1. Dear Family of Steve,

I’ve been with Calvary Robotics for over 2 years and sat no more than 20 feet away from Steve. He was nice, helpful, and I’ll miss him. We never got a chance to talk on a personal level, other than about the fact that Josh worked with my son at RADEC. If we spoke more personally, and Steve lost a loved one, then, I’d share what comforts (2 Corinthians 1: 3,4) me, with him.

Please, here is my best effort at comfort (keep in mind, I’m an engineer):

Steve designed and created ornate machines. Humans are wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14). Some of Steve’s machines are still running, and if he was called on to repair a broken machine he could do it. Our creator made us (Acts 17:24,25) and can fix us. Why else would he plan on a resurrection (Acts 24:15)? The one who gave life to all living creatures is certainly capable of restoring life to someone who has died. In fact, God wants the concept of death, gone (1 Corinthians 15:26). What is best, is that our creator wants us to be better (Job 14:14, 15).

Steve is on your minds; you can hear his voice and play it like a song. You can play videos of moments with Steve. If you were to take the collection of all the memories everybody has of Steve, and use them to recreate him, in a perfect body, would he be Steve? Maybe, if that was left up to human beings. But, God has a memory, and it is called the “book of life” (Revelation 3:5). Please examine John 11:39-44 and Psalms 139:16. Everything about Steve is known by God, his son Jesus used resurrection in the past, and he’ll use it again.

That’s comforting! Steve is not in pain; he’s resting (1 Thessalonians 4:13) and waiting to be called (4:16). The archangel is the glorified Jesus in his most powerful form in heaven. In this role, Jesus will resurrect the dead, restore humans to perfection, and end our enemies, including death.

I hope this helps you all. I’m not sure if I am a righteous man, but I prayed for you.

  2. So sorry to hear about Steven’s passing. We were cousins of the same age. I have many fond memories of him as a kid, particularly at Grandma’s and the Toland family reunions. So sorry that I am unable to attend on Sunday as I will be out of town. Know that I am thinking of you all and hoping you find comfort in your love and memories of him.
