Tom was one of my first managers at Fays and he was a great leader. I wish I could have talked again with him, time is too short.
I wrote an article on LinkedIn in 2019 about how he mentored me. I can’t share the link here as it won’t let me but his leadership helped me grow into who I am today.
I had the amazing experience of having Tom as my manager. He was the most caring, empathic and down to earth manager I have or ever will meet. I was so lucky to have known him and I’m so upset to hear the news of his passing. sending lots of love and prayers to his family who he always spoke with so much love for.
Tom was a wonderful man. Worked with him for years. He was very well liked and it was my honor to have worked for him and to have called him a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you during these times. He will always be with you.
To the Family,
I met Tom in August 1990 when I began working for Fay’s Drugs. Tom was a decent, fair guy who I always enjoyed working with as fellow managers and also when he was promoted and became my boss. Tom was just a phone call away and always was supportive in our business relationship. I don’t remember seeing him when he didn’t have a smile or a chuckle to make your day. Tom was always very encouraging as he wanted to see people succeed. I remember Tom and his first wife, Donna, and their home on Estall Rd. Tom had an open-door policy with close friends and associates. Tom enjoyed having a beer when he was off the clock. I took a vacation one year to Quebec and brought back some strong beers (11-13% alcohol content) that I shared with him. He appreciated my gesture. I left the company when it was becoming Rite-Aid and lost touch with Tom on a regular basis. I did stop by periodically to see him as I knew where the District offices were located! I’m amiss that I never knew his second wife or newest child. Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss. I’ll always remember Tom, both at work and on our off time. He was a helluva guy! I’m proud to have known him!
Tom was one of the very best District Managers I ever had the privilege of working with. He was always available day or night to help find answers to work puzzles. He clearly enjoyed family and work and had tremendous pride and passion for both. He will certainly be missed, but never forgotten.
Tom was the kindest, most caring and giving man I have ever known. He was an amazing father and husband who put his family first always. I was truly blessed to call him my friend. Charlene and children, hold all of your memories close and know that he will always be with you. Much love to you all.
You were the kindest human, smart, funny, you kept me calm when I was stressed. You always helped me see the brighter side and made me feel appreciated to work for you. Working for you was one of my greatest joys in my career and you were such a wonderful support system. There are enough words to cover how wonderful of a human you were. You will be missed. To Tom’s family, I wish you all peace and comfort during this time and I am thinking of you all.
From the day we met, we just clicked. We were always on the same page regarding work, personal issues, politics, trivia and, most importantly, The Three Stooges. What can I say about him after knowing him for over 30 years?
The man could make me laugh like no other, he could always cheer me up on a bad day and he was always there for me. Always!
He was my biggest supporter, my cheerleader, my mentor and my friend.
I worked closely with him in the district office for thirteen years. I was his right-hand guy. He was always thankful for things I did for him and he often said one thing I will never forget – “putting you in the office as my assistant was the best decision I ever made”. I couldn’t possibly ask for a higher compliment than that. He made me want to do more and be the best I could be. He likened us to Henry Blake (him) and Radar O’Reilly (me) from the TV show MASH because more often than not, I anticipated his needs and had things ready for him. We complimented each other well in business.
It always amazed me to watch him at work. He never made decisions lightly and he always put the people involved first in his decisions. How this decision would affect people was always at the top of his list. He mentored people with gentle guidance and made people better than they thought they could ever be. If more people took a lesson from him on what being a leader means, oh how much better businesses would be run!
I have seen or heard so many comments about him these past few days and the common denominator is all the comments are basically the same. They all say what a caring man he was. This is certainly a tribute to a man who conducted himself with dignity, humility and a desire to help everyone who crossed his path.
These past few days, I have already grabbed my phone on several occasions to ask him a question or to tell him something that I know he would be interested in or amuse him. Sadly, each time, I realize I can no longer do that. 😢
His passing leaves a hole in my heart and I will never stop missing him. It’s just not fair that his bright light is now gone from this world. My heartfelt to condolences to his loving wife Charlene and their five beautiful children, Tommy, Gina, Toni, Devon and Patrick.
I am so grateful he was a part of my life. Fly high, my friend! Until we meet again….

Of the many memories I have of Tom , this describes his character the best
When he and I were partners in some pretty tough stores in Rochester , I was going through one of the toughest most challenging times in my life that I never shared much about. I remember being in a store with Tom, feeling my world was crumbling around me and his presence alone was so uplifting for me. Without ever speaking about what I was going through , his presence alone was so calming and comforting. That’s how I always remember him. No matter what , he always brought calm, comfort and a smile. He was the most selfless caring soul I think I’ve met. How blessed we all are to have had him in our lives in any way
Prayers and deepest sympathy to Char and your children. Rest in peace my friend
Tom was a wonderful host, and devoted husband to my niece Charlene. He always called me “Aunt Polly”, which made me feel part of the family. I am grateful to have known him, grieving at our loss. His legacy will live on in his children (including stepchildren who he loved deeply) and all of the lives he touched.

I met Tom while working for Rite Aid. He offered me an opportunity to move up the career ladder. I was hesitant, but he said I trust you and want you on my team. He became not only my mentor but a close friend. Anytime I had questions he always made himself available to meet with me. As years went on he referred to me as Cousin Al. I have no idea where that came from. He and Charlene attended Dana’s and my wedding. Tom
was one of a kind, he cared for those in his life whether family or friends. We will miss him. A person like Tom who is in your life is truly a gift. A gift that I am happy I received.

Good RA memories- from the meaning of these emojis to “the land of make believe.” Rest easy.
