Virginia Johanna Pauza

Virginia Johanna Pauza, 99, passed peacefully of natural causes on January 1, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. Born August 9, 1925, she resided in Rochester, New York all of her life. Just two months ago, she moved to San Antonio where she made many friends and became known for her skill at bingo and for sharing handkerchiefs which were embroidered and detailed by she and her mother 80 years ago.

She was predeceased by her parents Margaret Jakubauskas Pauza and Charles Pauza, her brother Richard J. Pauza and sister-in-law, Arline Pauza. She is survived by her nephew, Richard J. Pauza, Jr. (Rosanne Palacios) of Laredo, Texas. She is also survived by her cousins Helen Washe, Kathy (Ralph) Eisenmann, Gary Washe, Charlotte “Letty” Januska, and Zenonas (Rita) Krampas of Vilnius, Lithuania along with other nieces and nephews in Rochester.

Virginia was a retiree of Eastman Kodak having worked there as an executive secretary for 42 years. She was a faithful member of St. George’s Lithuanian Catholic Church, now Our Lady of Lourdes, throughout her life in Rochester.

Most fondly referred to her as Ginny or Aunt Ginny. An avid gardener, she was especially gifted at growing tomatoes and roses. She took great pride in her Lithuanian heritage traveling there three times to meet family and remained fluent in the language as a pen pal with the Krampas family. Ginny went to great lengths to record family history long before online services existed and meticulously cataloged photos dating back more than 150 years.

A funeral service will be held at Bartolomeo & Perotto Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane on Wednesday, January 8, at 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 150 Varinna Dr., Rochester, NY 14618 or the charity of your choice.
