Obituary of Donald L. Bergmark

Donald L. Bergmark (1931-2019)

Greece: Mr. Donald L. Bergmark was born on November 16, 1931 in Olean, NY. He graduated from Thomas A. Edison high school in June 1949 and married Margaret Rose Kezer on July 29, 1949. This July would have been Don and Margaret’s 70th Wedding Anniversary. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War from 1952-1954. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class and was awarded numerous medals for his military service, including two Bronze Stars. After his service, Mr. Bergmark attended Elmira College and graduated in June 1963. He spent the early years of his career at Hardinge Brothers in Elmira, NY and retired from Xerox in Rochester, NY.

He was an avid golfer and a member of Ridgemont Country Club, former member of Deerfield Country Club. He was club champion for both RCC and Deerfield Country Club. Don was past president for the Rochester District Golf Association, and a representative to the New York State Golf Association. He immensely enjoyed watching T.V. Blue Bloods and Last Man Standing was his favorite shows.

Don and his wife liked traveling to Carolina Beach, NC and to Wilmington, NC to visit his brother Neil. For 10 years, they spent 3 months there in the winter time.  In his later years, he truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don loved the companionship of his two cats, Bear & Molly, who brought him much comfort during his last five years. Don had a positive and realistic outlook on life. He had a great sense of dry humor and would tell jokes when given the opportunity. Don’s hardy laugh will be remembered by all who knew him. He will always be deeply missed by his many friends and family.

Mr. Bergmark passed away on January 24, 2019 in his home and surrounded by his family.
