Additional Information
Flora Shea, 96, died at Hamilton Manor on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011. Born in Rochester on Apr. 21, 1915, to Gaetano and Serafina Voso, Flora attended Jefferson Jr. High in her youth. She worked in various laundries and factories, retiring from Taylor Instrument in 1977. In 1945, she married a returning WWII veteran, Daniel R. Shea, and they had two daughters. For over 60 years, Flora lived in the same neighborhood, where she was well known for her popularity with children and her offers of free rides to anyone in need. In 1999, her generosity was depicted in a Democrat Chronicle Good Neighbor column. She loved television, chocolate bars, singing, caring for animals, entertaining kids, gambling modestly, and doing crossword puzzles. Shorts and slacks were not a part of Flora's wardrobe; she preferred skirts.
