Jim, you have always had a joyful spirit and a kind heart; always wanting to share what you had, your time, your skills, your warm hospitality… making our world a brighter and sweeter place. We shall always have such fond memories of you.
I will never forget the day we met. It was a Christmas Concert or something of that nature and I walked up and said, “Hi Uncle John”. Then I realized I just met Ginger’s Dad.
Mary, Its been a long time. I’m very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope you find comfort in your family and your memories.
I attended Edison Technical and Industrial High School with John and Jim and graduated with them in the class of 1968. I was in the Instrumentation program with John, but because Jim and John were so close, I obviously also knew Jim. I have many fond memories of spending time with them and still remember the classic silver Buick Riviera that they owned… I think it was a ’65 or’66 model and they were the envy of all us classmates. I still remember times meeting them at the Red Barn restaurant where they worked and going out partying after closing hours! I probably shouldn’t mention this, but there were also some skipping class on a hot day to swim at the old flooded quarry in Penfield long before it became the pond outside the Shadow Lake Golf course restaurant. At Edison we were part of a group often referred to as the “Krauts”; the Heltzel brothers, Hochreiter and Heister. Good memories from years that have passed by too quickly. I hadn’t seen Jim since we graduated but have run into John a few times over the years. I was saddened to see Jim’s Obituary in the newspaper and wish to extend my sincere condolences to John and all of Jim’s family.
we feel your grief and keep you in our prayers. Jim, Sr will be missed by you and many others. How blessed you are to have such a tight-knit family. May your sharing of stories, memories, videos and photos keep his memory alive for you.
Mary and the entire Heltzel family, I’m so very sorry for your loss. May you always treasure your memories and hold all the good things in your heart. Prayers sent your way.
