Rochester: October 12, 2013. Predeceased by loving wife, Mary A. (Guarino) Gerbino; sisters, Christine Ciaglia Anna Salvaggio. Survived by children, Mark Gerbino, Roseann (Al) Terilli, Salvatore (Debi) Gerbino, Jacquie Gerbino, Mary Beth (Lynn) Allen, Christine Gerbino, Richard (Mary D.) Gerbino; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins dear friends. Jack was a WWII Army veteran. He retired from the Rochester Police Dept. after 32 years of service. He is a past President of the Rochester Police Locust Club, a member of ARPALER, Henotes, and the last living member of the BOJAKS. Jack was a loving and devoted husband and father and will be dearly missed by all. Special thanks to all the wonderful caregivers Jack encountered, especially those at the Jewish Home. Visitation is 2-4 7-9 PM on Thursday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Ln (between 390 Long Pond Rd). Jack's funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Christopher's Church, 3350 Union St, N. Chili. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Al Sigl Center, 1000 Elmwood Ave, Suite 300, Rochester, NY 14620 in Jack's memory. Jack was born on May 27, 1924 in Rochester, NY. He was a 1942 graduate of Aquinas Institute. Jack was a WWII Army veteran, serving from 1943-1946 with the 1879 Aviation Engineer Battalion in the South Pacific Theatre of Operation. He was awarded the Bronze Star medal in June 1946. He spent 32 years with the Rochester Police Department, serving as a Detective Supervisor in the Special Criminal Investigation Unit for 16 years, with a 3-year assignment in Arson Investigation Squad. Jack was the past President of the Police Locust Club, and past member of Al Sigl Sports Comm. He was also a proud member of the Italian American Veterans Post, Moose Club, American Legion, ARPALER, Henotes for approximately 50 years, and the last surviving Bojack Member after 65 years. Jack will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
