  1. I look back and ask myself should I have listened more, should I have done more, should I have spend more time. Jack was such a rare individual that working for him, working with him, and being his friend was a gift that, like fine wine (which I’m sure he would be the first to drink) gets better with time and should not be wasted. His influence on the lives of the people that he touched lives on. That is his gift to me that I try to pay forward—every day—to show my respect.

  2. Dad,

I miss our talks. I miss visiting with you and mom. I feel confident that you are in a good place with mom. Thanks for showing me the way.

    Mark

  3. We have such fond memories of your Dad. He told such great stories. He was always generous with his time, loving with his family, and proud of you all. He was a great advice-giver. He and your Mom always made us feel welcome. We are so sorry for your loss.

  4. Dear Mark,Sal and the Gerbino family.I am very sorry for your loss.Your dad was one great guy.He worked many years with my dad Sal ! I have many memories of Jack growing up,May he rest in peace. Our Lord gained another angel.

  5. We’re sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

  6. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can’t heal. Our prayers are with your entire family.

  7. Please accept our deepest sympathies on the loss of your father and a member of our countries greatest generation. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

  8. The passing of an era, with sadness and profound gratitude, he will remain in my heart.
Although Jack is now with Mary ,he will continue in the hearts and minds of all those who were fortunate enough to have been associated with him either at home at the dinner table, at work as the Top Cop, on the golf course (usually not on top) , at the cottage, in the Locust Club office or as a BoJak.
Few men lead by example and remain loyal not just in good times, when it’s easy, but in the worst and darkest of times, when survival is nearly impossible. Jack was the beacon of light that guided us through.
This limited space cannot provide the platform to mention all that Jack did for his family, friends and any person who carried a badge. In his younger days he was the Man, the go to Guy who fostered so much respect that in the one challenge that he had for his election as union president his opponent gathered a whopping 17 votes from 650 members, Jack got all the rest.
I was once involved in a heated discussion with another officer while I was assigned to the Vice Squad and was working for Jack. The officer said to me, “Yeah, I know, you’re Jack’s guy”. Yes I was and I always will be.
It’s my bet that God is already asking him for advice.

  12. Dear Sal & Debi; Our prayers & thoughts are with you. Your Dad is happy in heaven with your Mom they are reunited again. God Bless all of you.

  13. About 20 years ago I was driving to uncle Sal’s on a hot summer day. I can’t particularly remember the reason why I was visiting but I will never forget the gentleman mowing the lawn. As I approached the driveway of my destination I looked to my right and saw a man that resembled Mr. Gerbino. Mr.G. was walking behind the push mower dressed in a light colored plaid shirt, green shorts, work boots, giant straw hat, extra large sunglasses and a pair of dark tan colored blood pressure socks up to his knees. I envied this man of men. This man of incredible masculinity and style walking behind the mower with his head held high. ; )

God knows I will miss reminding him of that story and hearing him laugh and smile with me.

  14. Will always think of Mr. G. with fond and loving memories. He will be missed. Truly a great man from a great family !

  15. The Association of Rochester Police and Area Law Enforcement Retirees sends prayers and condolences to Jack’s family. He will long be remembered for his service to his community and loyalty to his friends. May he rest in peace.
