John and Clara were staples at both our family events (Clara was best friends with my Aunt Florine–my Mom’s sister) and years of Friday fish fries, 8:00 mass at MOS and breakfast afterward at Ezzie’s. I’d join them all here and there and we always had fun–John and I shared stories of Rochester Tel/Frontier–he had a GREAT sense of humor.
Unfortunately, many of the friends and family have passed on. I live in Nashville now; however, when I visit, I look forward to joining my Dad and his buddies (John, Uncle Carm, John C., Matt & Kenny) at the Y, watching them play pool and then meeting them afterward for coffee at McDonald’s. They catch me up about the changes around Greece. Their bond with the Y and each other is always evident.
Now, my Dad and his remaining buddies are heartbroken, as am I. My prayers and sympathies to the Maier families.
Rest in peace, John. You (as is Clara) will be greatly missed by my family.

My husband and I worked at Rochester Tel/Frontier. We remember John as a quiet, fair, considerate man. He was always a pleasure to work with and this world needs more men like John.
