I was saddened to learn of Kris’ passing. Kris and I grew up on the same street, graduated from Athena together in 97 and were friends during HS. I remember him as a nice guy and a good friend. We played a lot of euchre together during HS. We lost touch during college. My favorite memory of Kris is from the Dave Matthews Band concert we attended in 96 at Darien Lake. Kris drove another friend, Jamie, and I to that concert. It had been oversold, and the thruway was completely backed up and traffic was at a standstill for a long time. So long that Kris and Jamie got out of the car to play hack sack in the grass. In the end, traffic finally moved and we did get to the concert, only missing the opening act, and managing to find the rest of our friends.
I was saddened by the news of Kris’ death. We lived on the same street growing up and were friends in HS, often walking home together. We graduated Athena together in 97 and started at Geneseo that fall. We lost touch during college, but I will always remember him as a nice guy and a good friend. My favorite memory is from the Dave Matthews Band concert in 1996 at Darien Lake. There was a big group of us that met up for that event. Kris drove me and another friend, Jamie. The concert was oversold and the thruway was at a complete standstill. Kris and Jamie took the opportunity to play hacky sack while we waited for traffic to move. It eventually did and we got to the concert and found the rest of our friends.
I was shocked to see this in the obituaries today. I went to college with Kris, carpooling to FLCC often with him and his mom. We also grew up in the same neighborhood. I lost touch with him around 2001 and I can tell from what is written in his obituary that Kris continued to live the same exact way he did when I knew him. I am very sorry for your loss and have memories of road trips to college I will keep with me.
Marrying Kris’s father was the happiest day of my life. Gaining two wonderful stepsons late in life, along with their beautiful families, has given my life a new dimension. Kris always made me feel accepted, and was ready to help me, and of course his father, no matter what we needed. Whether it was helping to fix a computer disaster or moving furniture, he was ready to help. Fortunately for me, I could take some teasing, and give some, too! We both could laugh at ourselves, and those “wise guy” moments will always stay with me. I hope he knows I will be here to support his father and help his wife and son as long as I’m here. There will be a hole in my heart forever. 💔
Our hearts and love are with you both. Kris meant so much to so many. We lived in and witnessed his dedication to family and to his community through coaching. Loved being on the court and on the soccer field along side him.
Kris and I graduated from Greece Athena together and was my roommate Freshman year at SUNY Geneseo. Although we lost touch, I’ll always remember Kris as a funny, loyal, warm friend. He was instrumental in shaping my 4 years of college and was there the day I met my wife. Rest easy, Kris.
We cannot express our sorrow for the loss of Kris, but we are very proud to have grown to know you when the boys were in day care as well as on the soccer field. You will always be in our prayers as an entire family.
Sending our deepest sympathies and love to your whole family –
