I am so sorry for the loss the Hughes family has suffered. Peter was a wonderful man, and the way his family comes together shows his influence on those who love him still.
Want to let the family know that my thoughts and prayers are with them at this most difficult time. I have never had the privilege to meet Mr Hughes but he sounds like he was a wonderful person. Hope that the memories that the family has will provide comfort and peace as they are dealing with this tremendous loss. Thinking of Hiliary and Fiona.
My prayers go out to Mr.Hughes family. I loved having him as my Spanish teacher at John Marshall at different times from 1980-1986. May he always be fondly remembered.
My deepest condolences to the Hughes family. Mr. Hughes was a kind, patient teacher who put up with a lot from his rowdy students. He was my Spanish teacher at JMHS at various times over my junior high/high school years between 79-83 and I can still picture him teaching us to this day. I loved his English accent, and respected how his love of his family always shined through. What a beautiful video tribute–may your memories give you comfort during this time of loss.
Sending our deepest sympathies to an amazing family. Mr. Hughes was a delight. A fine example of a spiritual, giving and loving man to his family, friends and strangers. Heaven has an angel and although he will be terribly missed he will be forever near his loved ones.
I met Peter when I taught at John Marshall High School during the 1975-76 school year. He was a fine, very intelligent, talented, friendly, and cultured gentleman. He later very beautifully wallpapered some walls in my house on Merwin Avenue when I owned a house in the city. I last saw him and his wife on a Koning tour to Hershey, PA almost five years ago. We practiced Spanish, and recalled the past. My deepest sympathy to his widow and entire family.
Peter Hughes was one of my favorite teachers of my life. He had a lot of patience with my teenage attitude. I will always remember the fun we had in his Spanish class. He also hired me and my brother to perform at a Marshall High dance! What a great man. Humble and engaging, he made a difference in my life and I thank him! Peace in heaven!
Mr. and Mrs. Hughes had a big impact on my life as they were ever-present during my childhood summer activities and soccer games. I’d like to express my deepest sympathy to the Hughes family. Please know my thoughts are with you.
I had Mr. Hughes as my Spanish teacher at Marshall for four years. This was back in the 70s. I don’t remember a lot about high school and the teachers and all but my closest friends, but I DO remember Mr. Hughes. He was a GREAT teacher and a GREAT guy! My sincerest condolences to his family. RIP Señor Hughes.
Senor Hughes was my favorite teacher from JMHS. So sorry to hear about this.
