This messages for all of my family and friends. I cannot thank you all enough for your support during the most difficult time of my life. My mother was a great role model and my best friend. She had a great sense of humor and loved life to it’s fullest; however, she was conservative at heart when raising Michael and I. She taught us to always do the right thing and have faith in God. It is this foundation and faith that will get Michael and I through this very difficult time. I am blessed with a wonder family. My Aunts/Uncles/Cousins from both the Carden and Flanagan side have no idea how much their love and support has helped me though this time. My father is the “Irish Rock”. Michael and I pulled together to “count our blessings” rather than focus on our loss. We have shed many tears; however, we know that Rosie is in a better place. She passed with dignity in her sleep, and we could not ask for more. My sister-in-law, Becki, has helped me through this time with her postitive thougths and words. My Goddaugter, Ellie Rose, has helped me keep a smile on my face with her adorable personality and beautiful face. My husband, Eric, and my girls, Erica Rose and Amanda Clare, have made me proud with their attitudes of focusing on the blessing of Grandma Rosie rather than the loss. My mother taught my girls so much about the right way to live. It was about the little things in life. She always told me to say something nice to someone as you never know what they may be going through. You might make their day. I try to practice this on a daily basis. I feel like the saddest gal in the world because I lost my best friend; however, I feel like the luckiest gal in the world as I had her in my life for fourty-six years. I will cherish the lessons she has taught me, and I will try every day to be a person like her! You will be missed so much Mom, but I know that I can talk to you any time day or night! Thank you again to all of my family and friends for your support. I am truly blessed!
Growing up we were best friends and sisters. How happy we were spending time at the Reef Club, going on cruises and always having so many laughs we would wet our pants. I was so blessed to have you as a SISTER. Thanks for the great memories. I will always think of the great times and miss you forever.
Talking to Rose was.like talking to a comedian, she always.made you laugh, a real belly laugh. I never saw Rose sad and if you were sad SHE could always lift your spirits, she had that special gift. She would say, Look out the window and see something you never saw before. My son’s LOVED visiting Aunt. Rose because she was so much fun and you never knew what crazy things she would do, the visits were so special to them. Our family will miss you dearly. Rest in peace with our brother who passed away in April.
There was no one in the world like Aunt Rose. Everyone that knew her could share hilarious stories or memories about their experience with her. I don’t think anyone can think about her or even hear her name without a smile. She brought joy and laughter to everyone she knew. She had a gigantic heart and a way of seeing life that made you laugh. She was strong and it was such an honor to have had her as an aunt. Joe, Debby, Michael and family, I know her departure leaves a big void that no one can fill but her, but a piece of her is in everyone of you. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
MY SISTER ROSIE WAS ALWAYS THE MOST PERSON TO BE AROUND. YOU NEVER KNEW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN ROSIE WAS AROUND. CHILDREN WERE ALWAYS TREATED SO SPECIAL BY HER. MY CHILDREN HAVE SO MANY GREAT MEMORIES OF THE FUN THEY HAD WITH HER,MY SONS LOVED WHEN SHE CAME TO VISIT. SHE TOOK TIME TO MAKE ONE FEEL SO SPECIAL. HER HOUSE WAS THE SAFE HAVEN AND WAS OPEN TO EVERYONE. MY SISTER ROSIE, ALWAYS LOVING, ALWAYS LOVED. I WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH.
To Joe Mike Becki Debbie Eric and those 3 beaitiful Guardian Angels of Rosie….know that you wete all her greatest loves. I will so miss her humor Rosie was not afraid to say what we were all thinking!!! When she would mis-use the english language she would make us all laugh; and she would laugh the loudest!’ You taught your ANGELS so much. You were a great Mom and even better Gramma!! We will miss you but you will forever be in our hearts and your great love of life will forever shine thru in Erica Amanda and Ellie !! We love you Rosie!!
Dear Joe, Debbie and Michael…Your mother was one in a million. She will never know how much I looked up to her and took inspiration from her. Over the years, when I would hear people talk about “heros” and mention famous celebrities or sports stars, I would think of Rose. She had a way of making people feel loved and cared for, and boy did she make me laugh!! I adored her. When God made Rose he broke the mold. I am so sorry for your loss.
One winter afternoon Aunt Rose showed up at our home on Masseth Street. She was eager to go ice skating and asked who wanted to go with her and Debbie and Michael.
Since my Saturday chores were done, I was free to go, the only problem is I didn’t have ice skates. “Rosie, do you think we should worry? I’m not going to worry, are you?” , she asked as she took me outside to look in her trunk. (Aunt Rose and Uncle Joes trunks, whether it was the 1965 Mustang or the early 70’s Gran Torino held any kind of snack you craved, or sometimes a doll or matchbox car.)
As usual she put her key in the trunk and turned it and the trunk popped open. I don’t know why I was surprised, but there were plenty of white skates, and black ones too. Skates of all sizes so any and all of us could go if we wanted to.
We laughed, fell many times and skated until we were frozen. After changing into our boots Aunt Rose took us to see the model trains set up in the first floor of the Stardust Room in Edgerton Park.
It didn’t matter how cold it was outside, we were with Aunt Rose. I know I speak for all her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, when I say when we were with Aunt Rose we felt warm and loved.
I for one can’t wait to ice skate with Aunt Rose and all our family who have fallen asleep in death. I will miss her until that day. Job 14:13-15
