  10. In the literal sense, we have all “survived” Steve Pavone. We remain here to cope, mourn, remember, and laugh about the good times we shared with Steve while he goes on to a better place where cancer doesn’t exist and tech gadgets are infinite.

In the figurative sense of the word, if you’ve known Steve or worked for him long enough, you have “survived” Steve Pavone! Steve was a perfectionist who liked things a certain way. We worked alongside each other incredibly well because we would torture ourselves over the perfect word, where punctuation should go, and how to best represent YPC to our partners and the public. I always made sure I went into a meeting prepared because I knew what Steve liked and what he was looking for (most of the time)… There was always a certain level of anticipation about these meetings…I always wanted to impress Steve. Validation from Steve Pavone was a badge of honor. If you’ve worked closely with Steve for any amount of time, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. BUT there always came a point in a meeting with Steve where you kicked yourself for staying just a couple minutes too long!!

Once I experienced the emotional high of impressing Steve Pavone, I would inevitably want to linger in his office a few extra minutes and shoot the breeze or tell stories. Unfortunately for me, I would somehow manage to put my foot in my mouth and trip Steve’s trigger. You know the look you would get when he didn’t like something you had to say, or the head nod and lifted eyebrows you’d have to face when it all went south. I would hold my breath and try to figure out a way to take it back and get back to that euphoric validation I felt only moments before. We always worked through it and we worked incredibly well together. I learned a lot from Steve and I’m smarter and better off for having known him. I called Bill Calder this morning who introduced Steve and I to each other and thanked him. He said, “you were perfect for each other”. So I’m hear to say, yes, I survived Steve Pavone and I’m better off for it.

  11. It was an honor and a blessing to work alongside you, however brief it may have been. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

  12. To the man with the biggest mouth, biggest heart, and biggest dreams. I love you Dad. <3 Christine

  13. My sincere sympathy for your loss. Steve will forever live in your hearts.

  14. Steve Pavone…one of a kind! Steve was the ultimate competitor, master of constructive criticism, fiercely driven, supremely genuine and a true family first man with a heart of gold! I am privileged that our paths crossed as I feel I am truly a better person for knowing and learning from Steve. You’ll be sorely missed but NEVER forgotten! May we all continue to make you proud and continue to strive for greatness in our own lives as you so wonderfully mastered in your own! Much love!
