Spencerport: Vera Thompson Treadway passed away November 10, 2013, at age 76, after a brave battle with cancer. Vera was born in Eunice, WV. She earned her BA and MA from New Mexico Highlands University at Las Vegas, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, the inaugural Miss Southwest Wind, and was honored with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. She was a high school educator in West Virginia, New Mexico and Rochester, New York, where she was employed as a guidance counselor at Gates-Chili High School from 1964 to 1992. She also served as a teachers' union representative. Vera was a biographical and genealogical author, and was accomplished in piano, sculpting and painting, among many other talents. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and her zest for life, her selfless acts of kindness, and her smile touched the hearts of many. Vera is survived by her husband, Clinton Treadway, her daughters, Kristi Treadway and Denise Treadway Vorbach, her sons Dwayne Treadway and Darren Treadway, and her four grandchildren, Morgan Kayser, Kyle Vorbach, Dylan Treadway, and Maya Treadway. Visitation is Saturday 4-6 PM at Bartolomeo Perotto Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane. Vera's memorial service is at 6 PM at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Rochester Alternatives for Battered Women in Vera's memory.
