Beyond Vera’s West Virginia darling accent and physical beauty was this vibrancy that radiated as she trotted through the halls of Gates Chili High School. Scheduling students into classes was only a tiny part of her work as a Guidance Counselor. She was a sounding board, one who fully listened to students and they flocked to her door. She found time for everyone, usually skipping lunch and staying long after the last bell rang. I remember having to track her down on more than one occasion because she had been too busy to retrieve her paycheck from her mailbox. Forty years have passed since I had the privilege of working with her and still I vividly recall the passion she carried into life.
RIP Vera J. Treadway you will be missed. We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. It was great to get to know you as part of the NMHU family over the years.
Clint and family, I am just learning of your loss. Less than a month before I was visiting Coach and Mrs. Gibson in Las Vegas, NM. They were remembering some of the folks, like Vera and you, who came from WV and other places to Highlands. I will miss Vera. Phillip
Remembering a woman who brought energy, enthusiasm, compassion, and a beautiful smile into work each day as a Guidance Counselor at Gates Chili High School. It was a privilege to know her. Condolences to her family.

My prayers and thoughts are with you all at this time of loss. She was a wonderful woman, I have many warm memories of her and how we would sit and talk. Please except once again my deepest sympathies.
My deapest heart felt sympathies for you all. She was a wonderful kind woman, I have many warm memories of her and how she helped with many job resumes. Please let everyone know Ill keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Clint, our most vivid memory of Vera is that anyplace brightened with her smile and her presence. We just recently learned of her health battle and are reminded of the famous words of Dylan Thomas “Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” We hope the memory of her “light” will sustain you and the family in the days and months to follow. We will think of you often. Jerry and Rose Bowman
Thinking of you all at the one year anniversary of the passing of your mom.
