Greece: July 16, 2016 at the age of 88. Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Apsey, children, Pamela Ruta, Penny (Gary) Kaiser, John (Teresa) Apsey, Patty Anderson, Ron (Doreen) Apsey; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother Robert (Nan) Apsey; sister Joellen Bieber; several niece, nephews and dear friends. For more information about Bill please visit www.aliferemembered.com Bill was born July 15, 1928 in Wellsville, NY to his parents Frank and Helen. He was one of three children having one sister, Joellen and one brother, Bob. During his high school years the family moved to Panama and eventually returned to the US and Resided in Charlotte in Rochester NY. Bil graduated from Charlotte High School in 1947. After Graduation Bill enlisted into the US army. He served his country dutifully from 1948-1954. Shortly after returning home from the service Bill Met Shirley Ordiway through a mutual friend back "home" in Wellsville. Their courtship was quick and they were married February 8, 1955 in Dansville, NY. Bill and Shirley made Rochester their home with their 5 children, Pam, Penny, John, Patty & Ron. Bill's career started at Kodak. After a brief period there he found his way to a "little" company called Haloid. Haloid eventually became Xerox and Bill stayed their for a total of 36 years before retiring. Bill's passion was being in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting & fishing. His hunts found him in locations such as Maine, Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, California, South Carolina and New Foundland. While at these locations he could have been fishing or hunting for a wide array of different animals to include: Pheasant, Grouse, Turkey, Elk, Moose and Deer. Bill's passion for tho outdoors trickled over to his family. They would travel to locations such as the Adirondacks and many other remote areas. Their camping style was to rough it. Modern amenities were left behind. The Apsey family adventures also included: attending stock car races, drive-in movies, hiking, cook outs, attending the NYS Fair, ice skating & sledding. Bills favorite time spent with family included Christmas in the Southern Tier and going to family reunions. In the rare times that Bill wasn't on the go he enjoyed watching TV. His favorite shows were Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, History Channel, westerns & Foster Brooks. He also enjoyed watching his beloved NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills and Denver Bronco's on TV. Bill will be remembered for his sense of humor, easy going nature, strong willed sense of being, loving, caring, frugal personality. Bill was a "breath of fresh air" for all who knew and loved him. He truly will be missed. Bill's visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9. His Funeral Service will be celebrated Thursday 10:30 AM at the Funeral Home, Inc. Bill's burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville, NY to be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to National Wildlife Federation, Operations Center, PO Box 1691, Merrifield, VA 22116-1691 or to Veterans of Foreign Wars, 406 West 34th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111 in Bill's memory.
