Ciaccia, William "Bill" Greece: August 26, 2015. Bill is survived by his wife, Janet A. (Insalaco) Ciaccia; children, William Ciaccia, David Ciaccia; sister, Ann Marie (Gerald) Nasella; sister in-law, Sandy Ciaccia; brother in-law, Dr. Sam (Sandra) Insalaco; Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends. Served with the Rochester City Fire Dept. for 43 years. Bill's visitation will be Sunday 1-5 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage lane (between 390 Long Pond Rd.) His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at St. Mark's Church, 54 Kuhn Rd. Entombment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Golisano Children's Hospital, 300 East River Road, PO Box 278996 Rochester, NY 14627 in Bill's memory. Bill was born on April 23, 1938 and grew up in the Maplewood neighborhood in Rochester, NY. He entered into the U.S. Army in 1958 where he obtained his GED. Bill served in the Army for 4 years and after his discharge, he served with Rochester City Fire Department for 43 years. Bill was known to be very courageous as he was the first to run into a burning building to help others in need. He also worked at Wegmans for over 40 years. Bill was well respected by his many peers and was a member of the Rochester Fire Departments Benevolent Association. Bill met his wife Janet through mutual friends in high school. They married at Holy Apostles Church on October 13, 1962. They went on to have two children, William and David. Bill really enjoyed attending 4th of July family picnics as well as traveling to places like California, Seattle, Vegas and Toronto. Some of his favorite sports teams were the San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees. Bill also liked to read mystery novels, and enjoyed watching the history channel, National Geographic channel and the T.V. show Alaskan Bush Family. Bill was known to be outspoken, social, gracious, respectful and generous. He was a loyal and dedicated person and a true advocate for fairness. Bill had a lot of energy and had many wonderful attributes. He was a great role model, ethical and always helped those that were less fortunate than him. Bill will be deeply missed and his memory will carry on through his many loved ones, friends and every life he touched during his life.
