‘A great tree has fallen’........ ‘an empty place has opened up against the sky’.
Dolly met a ‘special boy’ in 1952 during the St. Hedwig Church Festival at the age of 13. She began that day with this boy named Bob. That day brought them together, and never to be separated for the rest of their lives.
Everything Dolly believed in and honored in her life revolved around her faith in God and love of her family. Dolly’s greatest treasure was her family. She loved the holiday season preparing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends. Dolly was known for her wonderful pies, chocolate chip cookies and pierogies. No one ever left the Skrypek home hungry!
Dolly gave the light to carry on in greatness and gave us courage when we are in need of help. She enjoyed polka dancing and Polish customs, especially Easter and Christmas. Everyone will have a lifetime of fond memories about Dolly.
She graduated from St. Hedwig Grade School and St. Benedict Academy in 1956. Dolly worked for Alderman Michael Kinecki while in high school and after her graduation. Erie remained home until 1961. For over 40 years Dolly and Bob traveled to Hawaii for an annual visit during the winter. During the visits to Hawaii they met Red Skelton and enjoyed being invited to many of his birthday parties.
