Obituary of Kenneth F. Brongo
GREECE - Ken went to heaven joining his mother Theresa Brongo on October 19, 2019. He is survived by his wife Laurie (Knight) Brongo; sons, Jeremy (Graziella) Brongo, Michael (Tina) Brongo, grandchildren, Sofia Brongo, Braden Brongo, Evelyn Brongo & Archer Brongo; father, Louis (AnnaMarie) Brongo; siblings, Louis (Angela) Brongo, Stephen (Lois) Brongo, Donna Brongo, Leonard (Lilliana) Brongo, Donald (Charlene) Brongo, Diane (Steven) Joerger, Kevin (Kelly) Brongo; Laurie’s sons, Michael & TJ Scanlon; Jeremy & Michael’s mother, Jennifer Downey; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends.
Ken’s life story will be shared during his visitation, Wednesday, October 23rd, 4-8 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 & Long Pond Rd.). His funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, October 24th, 10 AM at Calvary Chapel Westside, 2407 S. Union St., Spencerport, immediately followed by his burial in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Spencerport. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Ocular Melanoma Foundation, 1717 K St., NW, Suite 900, Washington, DC 20006 in Ken’s memory.
Ken was born to his parents, Louis & Theresa Brongo, July 16, 1955. During his grade school years Ken started showing his adventurous side. He enjoyed pheasant hunting with his brothers and sisters on the family homestead and spending time on the Erie Canal with siblings & friends. Ken graduated from Spencerport High School. While there, he was on the wrestling team achieving Monroe County Champion status in 1974.
Ken had a very strong work ethic. At a very early age his entrepreneurial skills started to show themselves. Business's that he eventually founded included Brongo's Backhoe Service, Family Development and K2 Development.
Growing up in a large family Ken always looked forward to the Brongo family reunion’s and all holiday’s with family. He enjoyed all holiday’s where family gathered laughed and enjoyed each other’s company.
Ken enjoyed an active outdoor lifestyle. He and Laurie enjoyed spending time on the water boating. Ken along with his sons & grandkids also enjoyed: fishing, hunting & running heavy equipment. He was a member of the Rochester Bassmaster’s Club since the 80’s.
He enjoyed, being on a tractor, traveling, horse back riding and spending time on his bass boat.
Ken was active at the Father’s House and at Calvary Chapel Westside. While at the Father’s House he was a member of the Men’s Prayer Group & proudly served there as an usher.
He enjoyed listening to new country music. He could regularly be quoted as saying "don’t put off to tomorrow what you can do today.” He enjoyed watching AQ Football and Florida State Seminoles Football. He had a sweet tooth. Ken loved ice cream, especially chocolate ice cream with fresh strawberries on top.
His personality could best be described as: energetic, having a sense of humor, generous, giving & passionate. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
